This graphic is hot and cold at the same time. Looking at it, the viewer gets a sense that it could easily make the room as hot as the flames that crown the main image or as cold as the pervasive white colour of the background. The rear of the design is a black white expanse, the only quality that stands out are the red flames that seem to find their source in the head and shoulders of a woman in the foreground. The figure of a woman with a pale white body dressed in a skimpy white dress sits in a seductive pose with a multi-ringed circlet of barbed wire spun about her waist. While her body is white, her face is blank, and from out of her hair have sprung two bright red horns. By her left side the words "hot-blooded" feature, and on her right, the phrase "pin-up girl" makes its appearance.
Perhaps the phrase pin-up girl is not a slang term that is used very often anymore in common vocabulary, but in the 1950's, it was a common way to refer to any girl who was attractive enough that you might want to hang (or pin-up, hence the name) her photo or picture on your wall. Of course the tradition of displaying sexy female images has not gone out of fashion in the least bit. Teenagers and even some adults these days consistently post pictures and prints on their walls of their most beloved models, actresses, film stars, and even athletes. While the term pin-up girl has begun to drop out of common usage, it still strikes a chord with many.
It is possible that one might think that this graphic is a little more explicitly passionate than it ought to be. However, there is a significant amount of symbolism to this image if you look closely enough. Once you get past the obvious parts of the image like the woman in skimpy clothing, the stiletto heels, and the demonic horns, you can see the little details that are important, like the barbed wire. The barbed wire could easily be a symbol of the imprisonment that this woman is undergoing. Perhaps she is a captive, or perhaps she is just attempting to restrain her passion. But once this interpretation is discarded, the barbed wire that wraps around her waist so gracefully could easily be a symbol of how dangerous and sharp a seductive woman can be. Come close enough, and you might be able to kiss her, but come too close, and you'll be injured!
