There are many things about rock music that have drawn generation after generation of young people into the fold and made them love life even more than before. Most of this is the rebellious attitude the rock began with. It began as a devil may care jab at society, an attitude that said, you can't touch me, because I am a rock star. From there, the social surroundings of rock music moved into a slightly more risqué realm before heading back toward a more traditional rock feel. The underlying principle of rock music takes its cue from the blues and from jazz, but adds a heavy beat and a steady rhythm guitar as well. Besides this, its lyrics tend to be about social change, non conformity, and lost love, three topics that are some of the undeniably most popular in all artistic forms of expression worldwide.
This design, while indeed taking some of its cues and its background from rock music, takes some of its other indicators from the very prevalent Japanese cartoons, also called Japanese animation. These cartoons, from which the graphic gets its distinctive stylistic elements, often involve odd situations and events that happen as if these things were commonplace. For example, it is likely that you could see a baby playing the guitar in a band, and, as the caption puts it, being a rock star. And most likely, if you did find a Japanese cartoon that featured an axe wielding baby, you'd find him in a show with a multitude of bright lights and colours, just like this design. In this graphic, there is a baby holding what looks like a Fender Stratocaster electric guitar while standing in a rather psychedelic bubble that contains fanning stripes of blue, white and pink. The design seems rather loud, but that appears to be what the creator was aiming for.
This design blends all sorts of crazy elements together to create an apparel graphic that could, if it is lucky, one day actually be worn by a rock star. In fact, a shirt sporting this design would make a great stage shirt for a famous rock band's front man.
